Ansu Fati's goal helped Barcelona beat Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 on Tuesday and set up a huge game against Benfica later this month.
Ansu's 70th minute winner moves Barca onto six points, two ahead of Benfica and in the second qualification position in Group E. Bayern Munich lead the way and are already through to the last 16.
Barca now know they too will reach the knockout rounds if they beat Benfica at Camp Nou on Nov. 23. Any other result would likely leave them needing a result from their final group game in Munich.
Interim coach Sergi Barjuan made changes in Kiev, with Ansu and Frenkie de Jong both returning from injury and Clement Lenglet coming in for the injured Gerard Pique.
Barça started quickly and Memphis Depay had an early chance as the Catalans sought an early goal.
The home side eventually came into the game after 20 minutes, with Shaparenko having a couple of chances and Carlos de Pena drawing a save from Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Lenglet hit the post for Barca but the flag was up and a Nico Gonzalez header was blocked, by accident, by Memphis.
Barca thought they had a penalty after the break but, following a review of the play on the monitor, the referee overturned the original decision, deeming there had been no foul on Ansu.
The breakthrough eventually arrived shortly after, though. Oscar Mingueza's cross was deflected and Ansu smashed home from 12 yards.
Ousmane Dembele had come on by that point to make his first appearance of the season as Barça closed the game out with a clean sheet.
