Gerard Pique was a doubt until the last moment ahead of Barcelona's game with Mallorca.
The Catalan centre-back didn't complete the week's training sessions with the group, due to discomfort in the adductor muscles in his left leg, but he finally made the list on Sunday morning and started against Mallorca.
He only lasted 27 minutes on the pitch. As in the match against Real Sociedad, he was unable to play the whole game.
The former Manchester United player has been suffering from adductor problems in his left leg for months. In the Europa League match against Eintracht Frankfurt on April 7, he had to withdraw in the 23rd minute because he was unable to continue.
Because of this issues, he missed the matches against Levante and Cadiz. He returned against Real Sociedad, but did not play the full 90 minutes. He was substituted in the 82nd minute. And against Rayo Vallecano, he was a substitute.
On Sunday, Pique wanted to force himself back, aware of the great importance of the three points against Mallorca with second place in the table at stake.
But from the start he was limping and measuring his runs and cover. In the 27th minute, he was replaced by Eric Garcia.
In fact, while the whole team were celebrating Memphis Depay's goal, Pique agreed with Xavi Hernandez to be taken off immediately. The Blaugrana backline was then made up of Dani Alves, Araujo, Eric Garcia, and Jordi Alba.
