Pedri has the highest market value at Barcelona, followed by Frenkie de Jong
Ferran Torres, Gavi, Araujo, Dest and Eric Garcia also feature but Ansu does not
Barcelona's delicate financial situation could oblige them to sell some of their best players this summer to be able to invest elsewhere in the squad.
Names like Frenkie de Jong -- despite Xavi Hernandez counting on him in purely sporting terms -- could end up packing their bags and leaving Camp Nou to 'save' Barça's financial plight.
The 'Football Observatory CIES' have presented a list of 100 players with the highest market value in the world at the moment based on an algorithm that includes variables such as contract length, age, minutes player in the last two years, goals scored, assists, passes, dribbles and international caps, among other things.
With all these factors considered, the leader is Kylian Mbappe, who has a value of €205.6 million. His contract renewal with Paris Saint-Germain has seen his value rocket, overtaking Vinicius Jr., who is second with a hypothetical price tag of €185.3m. The podium is closed by new Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, at €152.6m.
With regards to FC Barcelona, the player with the highest market value is Pedri Gonzalez (€135.1m). He's fourth. Also in the top 10 is Frenkie de Jong (€112.5m) and Ferran Torres (€109.5m). They are seventh and 10th respectively.
Overall, the list features 21 players from LaLiga, with eight from Real Madrid, seven from Barcelona, two from Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia and one from Real Sociedad. Surprisingly, Ansu Fati is not there, but the injury problems he has suffered over the last two years explain his absence.
Here are the seven Barça players in the top 100 (€):
- Pedri González: 135.1m
- Frenkie de Jong: 112.5m
- Ferran Torres: 109.5m
- Ronald Araujo: 89.1m
- Eric Garcia: 60.2m
- Gavi: 58.5m
- Sergiño Dest: 52.9m
