Who said Jose was out of touch?! Mourinho takes his moans about refs to Instagram, by posting side-by-side images attacking calls on penalties for rivals Juventus... and now Roma boss could face a punishment
- Jose Mourinho has taken a very public swipe at officiating in Juventus games
- The legendary manager took to Instagram to show two images of penalty calls
- Each showed players encroaching in the area, one for Roma and one for Juventus
- Roma were penalised in their incident whereas Juventus got away with it
- Mourinho appears to be reigniting a feud with Juve, which he started with Inter
Roma boss Mourinho has sparked a feud with the rival club after his side were unable to re-take a spot kick despite encroachment in the penalty area, whereas Juventus in a similar situation were permitted to do so.
The fiery Portuguese boss compared the two still images side by side, writing: 'One had to be retaken, one hadn't... guess which.'
Jose Mourinho has risked a huge fine with a social media post suggesting Juventus get favourable treatment from Italian officials. His first picture showed Jordan Veretout missing a penalty for his Roma side against Juventus, with players clearly encroaching into the area
The Portuguese boss then compared that encroachment - which was not punished - to a decision Juve got in their match against Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday night - in which Paulo Dybala was permitted to re-take and score a spot-kick following encroachment into the area
Mourinho was quick to point the finger at the inconsistency once he saw it on Tuesday night
After gaining over half a million 'likes' Mourinho left
up on his social media page, despite numerous comments telling him it would likely result in a fine or possibly a touchline ban.
Roma's Jordan Veretout missed the penalty in question against Juventus on October 17, despite several players flooding into the box before the ball was kicked, but there was no retake determined by the officials.
Roma lost the controversial match to their bitter rivals as a result. Striker Tammy Abraham had netted for Roma but referee Daniele Orsato had awarded a penalty for a foul on the England striker a split-second earlier.
It was this penalty which would be missed, and not granted a re-take.
Juve would then going on to have a similar penalty situation themselves in their Champions League match against Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday night.
The abrasive Mourinho is now waiting to learn whether he will be fined for his outburst
Paulo Dybala stepped up to take a spot-kick for Juve but blazed it wide, yet he was permitted a re-take, which he scored, due to numerous Zenit bodies encroaching into the area - all of which was much to Mourinho's fury.
Mourinho has previous with Juve, after sparking a row with the club in 2009 when manager of Inter Milan.
Mourinho accused Juve of getting favourable treatment from officials in the division, before going on to beat the Old Lady to the Serie A title.
