Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will reportedly have more control over his side's transfer business this summer as part of the new contract he signed in April.

The German recently extended his deal to stay in the dugout at Anfield until 2026, with his previous contract running out in two years' time.

Klopp reportedly knew he would have more influence in off-the-pitch affairs when he penned the fresh terms and was also aware of Sadio Mane's desire to leave Liverpool this summer, it's been claimed.

Mane wants out of Liverpool this summer in search of a new challenge with Bayern Munich emerging as strong contenders to sign the Senegalese winger.

But a story in The Sun details that despite Julian Ward replacing the outgoing Edwards, the Reds manager is expected to yield a bigger say in transfer and contractual matters.

In addition to Mane, Klopp was also aware when he put pen-to-paper that Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also pushing to leave the club.

As a result, Klopp wanted guarantees that there would be adequate funds to replace holes in his squad caused by outgoings in this window.

Klopp has also reportedly managed to cut short Liverpool's pre-season tour of Asia to six days, with the 54-year-old preferring to work closer to home ahead of the new season.

The Reds will play Manchester United and Crystal Palace in two July friendlies, in Bangkok and Singapore respectively

The news comes as it emerged on Wednesday morning that Mohamed Salah's preference is to stay in the Premier League should he not be able to extend his deal at Anfield.

The Egyptian's contract expires next summer and although he stated he will be staying at Liverpool next season, talks over an extension have been futile thus far.
