Borussia Dortmund clinched their place in the Champions League final after pulling off the perfect heist to beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 (2-0 on aggregate) at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

Dortmund arrived in Paris with a slender one-goal advantage from the first leg in Germany and named an unchanged starting XI. Edin Terzic's men executed a clear gameplan from the first whistle, protecting their 18-yard box with a low block and hitting PSG on the counter.

The home side dominated the ball for much of the first half, but struggled to find way to penetrate the resolute Dortmund backline. In fact, it was actually the Bundesliga outfit that went closest to taking the lead when full-back Julian Ryerson latched onto a lay-off from Niclas Fullkrug but fired into the side netting.

Later in the half, Karim Adeyemi - leading a fast counterattack with Fullkrug - decided to go it alone and it needed a strong stop from Gianluigi Donnarumma to deny the German forward.

That appeared to spark PSG into life and after some silky footwork from Mbappe, the Frenchman found Fabian Ruiz on the edge of the box only for his powerful effort to take a wicked deflection and sail wide of the post.

PSG rue missed chances

After the break, PSG came out firing on all cylinders and somehow squandered two golden chances in the space of a few seconds.

Mbappe's wicked cross deflected into the path of Goncalo Ramos and the Portuguese couldn't connect properly with the strike. It then fell kindly to Warren Zaire-Emery at the far post, but the 17-year-old struck against the post with the goal gaping.

And merely two minutes later, Dortmund dealt them a massive blow. Julian Brandt sent in a superb delivery from the corner, which found Mats Hummels at the far post, and the veteran centre-back could hardly miss as he headed home from six yards out.

Needing two goals just to take the contest to extra-time, PSG had multiple chances to get a goal back but Ramos - having an off night - blazed over twice in quick succession.

The Ligue 1 champions continued to turn the screw and for the fourth time in the two-legged tie, they hit the woodwork after Nuno Mendes' long-distance effort struck the post on the hour mark.

Luis Enrique sent on Marco Asensio and Bradley Barcola to go all out attack, while his opposite number shored up his backline with Niklas Sule entering the fray.

But Dortmund held firm at the back, keeping Mbappe's influence to a minimum, and the visitors celebrated wildly when the final whistle sounded.

Unbelievably, PSG proceeded to hit the bar twice more through Mbappe and Vitinha as they lamented their misfortune with the woodwork.

And Real Madrid now know that the Bundesliga side - not Mbappe - will be waiting for them at Wembley on June 1 if they overcome Bayern Munich in their semi-final second leg on Wednesday.
