Liverpool have presented Sadio Mane with a video of his 'best bits' to boost morale after going nine games without a goal.

Mane and Mo Salah both aim to end a disappointing week on a high at Chelsea on Sunday before flying off for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Salah missed a penalty in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at Leicester while Mane looked anguished after he missed a golden chance to equalise in the second half.

'Sadio has no problem with confidence but the momentum finishing-wise is not there at the moment,' acknowledged Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

'One of our analysts knocked on my door on Friday to say he'd made a video to show Sadio how much he contributes to our game and how good he is in big moments.

'Obviously the intention is to show he should not be too worried that the finishing is not there right now.

'He is still an incredibly important player for us, that is the view we have on him.

'Pretty much all strikers have to go through these kind of things. It happened to Sadio before and he came out of it.

'He scored incredibly important goals for us and I'm really positive that he has chances to score on Sunday. We're human beings, that's how it is.'

Salah is also going through a rare blip and Sunday afternoon could complete three league games without a goal for the first time in March.

At the King Power his rebound header hit the woodwork after Kasper Schmeichel had saved his initial spot-kick.

'We don't have a lot of experience with Mo of dealing with 'crisis' or whatever because he didn't have to. The penalty (missing), it just makes him more greedy to score,' said Klopp

The Egyptian has netted 22 goals in 25 games for Liverpool this season and will fancy his chances with Chelsea missing first-choice wing-backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Klopp says despite the glory achieved by elite sportsmen, their biggest quality is bouncing back from adversity.

'Missing a penalty was tough especially when the rebound goes on the crossbar but top-class players deal constantly with failure. That is our life,' explained the Reds manager.

'You know how many things don't work out even in the best games. It is something you learn pretty early as a footballer. The better you are, the more often you will fail because you are constantly in those decisive moments.

'Nobody ever succeeded in all difficult situations. Kobe Bryant missed more shots in the NBA than anyone else but he is one of the greatest players ever. You have to try it.

'If you fail, no problem, go again and everything will be fine. That is pretty much the mindset Mo is in, and Sadio as well by the way.'

Klopp was critical of his team at the King Power that left them a distant third behind Manchester City, and a point behind Sunday's opponents Chelsea, albeit with a game in hand.

Plans for Stamford Bridge haven't been helped by three more Covid cases in the camp with Thiago Alcantara also injured and Andy Robertson suspended.

Both teams famously use full-backs as a major attacking weapon though Trent Alexander-Arnold could be the only 'regular' available in that position.

'If we're on top of our game it's difficult to deal with and if Chelsea are on top of their game it's difficult to deal with,' added Klopp.

'Chelsea score more often from these wide positions, Marcos Alonso and famously Reece James. We prepare more for that.

'We both use width to attack the centre which is where the goal is! There is a difference in the system, we have good full-backs and they have the wings covered by the wing-backs. Manchester City do it with wingers.

'It is just different set ups with different positional players, in similar areas.'

After Sunday's match, Liverpool will be without Salah, Mane and Naby Keita for up to a month.

They will miss two Premier League games, a two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final with Arsenal and an FA Cup third round tie against Shrewsbury.
