Antonio Conte promises to deliver 'good and attractive football' in his first interview after taking the Tottenham job... and insists fans DESERVE a team that are competitive and have a 'will to fight'
Spurs moved quickly after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo following the dismal 3-0 defeat to Manchester United and announced Conte as their new boss on Tuesday, with the Italian putting pen to paper on a 18-month deal with an option to extend.
One of the main criticisms levelled at Nuno was the style of football he had employed, or rather lack of one, leaving fans frustrated that chairman Daniel Levy had failed to deliver on his promise of appointing someone who plays 'free-flowing, attacking and entertaining' football.

But with serial winner Conte now at the club, the Italian's footballing philosphy will be music to Tottenham fans' ears.
'To be Tottenham manager it is a great pleasure and honour,' Conte told the club's official website. 'I want to repay this trust.
'My coaching philosophy is very simple – to play good football and attractive football for our fans. With patience and to be a stable – not up and down.
'I think the fans deserve to have a team that are competitive with a will to fight. I will do everything to deserve their support.'

The Italian's appointment comes 48 hours after Tottenham sacked Nuno Espirito Santo
When asked what his motivation is after winning titles in Italy and England, Conte revealed: 'This is the past and I live in the present. For Juventus, I played 13 years and I won a lot and everything with them. Then I came back and started as a coach to win nine titles in a row.
'It means we dominated and I started that and then stopped this cycle with Inter Milan. In the last two years with Inter, we had the second best attacking and best defence.
'My past and what I did with the previous teams and clubs, the past is important and I'm proud.
Conte won multiple Serie A titles in Italy with Juventus and, more recently, Inter Milan
The 52-year-old also won the Premier League title with Chelsea during the 2016-17 campaign
'For me, the new challenge is Tottenham. I want them to become an important part of my career as a football manager.'
When asked about getting back into football after leaving Inter, Conte explained that it was a little too soon to jump back into managing another club earlier this summer.
'Last summer I was very clear with Tottenham because I had just finished with Inter after such an important, but tough, season. Honestly, it wasn't the right time to start again or another experience.
'I prefer to wait, I prefer to enjoy the time with my family and also because I think, emotionally, was still [too soon] after the experience with Inter.
Now Conte wants to Tottenham to become the next important part of his trophy-laden career
'Tottenham is an important club in England and an important club in the world. The stadium, the training ground are wonderful.
'The club and Daniel Levy wanted me strongly. I think this is a big opportunity to accept and become the manager.
'I have seen the training ground today and I wanted to start to work!' he added.
'Tottenham are a top club and this type of situation will push you and increase the desire to work and to do something important for the fans.'
