Eberechi Eze 'could make SHOCK early return for Crystal Palace against Wolves on Saturday' - just six months after horror Achilles injury suffered on the day he was set to be named in provisional England squad for Euros
- Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze was expected to be out until the start of 2022
- The 23-year-old attacking midfielder injured his Achilles in training back in May
- But he played 62 minutes for the Under 23s and could be in contention soon
- Patrick Vieira reportedly could even name him on the bench against Wolves
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who impressed in his solo season at Palace, damaged his Achilles in training back in May and was expected to be out until the start of 2022.
However, his recovery has accelerated and after appearing for 62 minutes for the club's Under 23s this week, The Sun report that Eze has a chance of being named among the substitutes for this weekend's Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze played 62 minutes for the U23's as he continues his recovery
The 23-year-old damaged his Achilles in May but could now be in line for an early return
Should he appear, it would be the first time the ex-QPR man appears in front of a full set of fans at Selhurst Park in the red and blue.
The 23-year-old moved to Palace from QPR for £16million in the summer of 2020.
He impressed in his debut season in the Premier League, scoring four goals and setting up another six, before suffering his horror injury - on the same day he was set to be named in Gareth Southgate's provisional England squad for Euro 2020.
'He's doing really well,' Eagles manager Patrick Vieira said last month.
Eze said his return will 'feel like his debut all over again' having not played in front of home fans
Patrick Vieira said in October that Eze remained a 'couple of weeks away' from being available
'He has started training with the team, but he's still a couple of weeks away from getting involved because we have to be really, really realistic with the injury that he had and the time that he needs to be fitter to get involved.'
Asked about his recovery in October, Eze replied: 'The day I come back is going to be beautiful for me.
'A beautiful experience stepping out with the fans. I haven't experienced all the fans before. It's going to be like my debut all over again. Amazing.'
