'It always was': Tammy Abraham sends Chelsea fans into raptures with his bullish response to former team-mate Callum Hudson-Odoi, who declared 'London is blue' after emphatic derby victory against Tottenham

  • Chelsea beat Tottenham in a crunch derby to tighten their grip on the top four
  • After the game, Callum Hudson-Odoi bullishly declared that 'London is blue'
  • Former team-mate Tammy Abraham soon agreed, insisting that it 'always was'
  • The response on Twitter unsurprisingly sent some supporters into raptures

Tammy Abraham proved he still remains on the good books at Chelsea after agreeing with Callum Hudson-Odoi that London 'always was' Blue, following his former club's 2-0 derby victory against Tottenham yesterday.

Thomas Tuchel's side put an end to their mixed recent form after brushing aside Spurs at Stamford Bridge, with Hakim Ziyech having curled home a stunning strike before Thiago Silva's bullet header wrapped up the three points.

Indeed, Chelsea have lost just one of their last 38 clashes against the north London outfit at their home ground - triggering a number of their players to gleefully take to social media to revel in the result with their fanbase.

Hudson-Odoi bullishly posted that 'London is blue', accompanied by a blue heart emoji, after the final whistle, and Abraham - who he used to supply in the Blues' frontline - evidently kept a close eye on proceedings.

Abraham, 24, replied to the tweet by insisting 'It always was', just hours after finding the net in Roma's 4-2 win against Empoli in Serie A.

The frontman departed his boyhood club for Italy in a deal worth £34million back in July, bringing an emotional end to his 17-year stay.

Boss Tuchel effectively froze out Abraham, restricting him to just seven appearances off the bench last season, but the ace responded superbly after his move away.

To little surprise, the exchange between the two academy graduates was greeted with a rapturous response from supporters on social media.

One user said: 'Come back to Cobham in a few years, bro.'

Another simply posted: 'My #9.'

'Tammy set to win the Ballon d'Or in a few years' time', said a third, who also used the goat emoji.

A fourth wrote: 'This is why I love you.'

'Tammy was an Arsenal fan so this dagger is deeper,' a fifth added.

The result sees Chelsea just one point behind second-placed Liverpool and, perhaps more importantly, nine points ahead of Manchester United, who are fourth.
