'No wonder it's Conference League next year... Classless!': Jesse Lingard fumes at lack of a Man United send-off as his brother, who represents him, posts a bitter exit message about 'attacks' on him

  • Jesse Lingard was an unused substitute in the win over Brentford at Old Trafford
  • The 29-year-old is expected to leave the club when his contract expires
  • Lingard's brother Louie Scott criticised United for not giving him a send-off
  • Other players who are set to depart United featured in the Brentford match

Jesse Lingard's brother has slammed Manchester United as 'classless' for not giving the player an Old Trafford farewell during the win over Brentford on Monday.

Lingard is set to leave the club as a free agent in the summer and the Brentford clash is expected to be his last Old Trafford match.

But the 29-year-old was left on the bench by interim boss Ralf Rangnick and did not feature in the game, which United won 3-0.

Other players who are heading for the exit door, such as Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic, were given a send off - prompting a furious response from Lingard's brother Louie Scott on Instagram.

'20 years of blood sweat and tears, 4 domestic trophies, 3 cup final goal, not even a farewell. No wonder it's Conference League next year,' Scott wrote.

'Attacking players for celebrations when the clubs being sold to the super league ok. Class of 92, Busby Babes, you're ran by people who don't even know the offside trap. Classless and the fans need to realise. Goodnight, godbless!

'Been there since nine years of age and didn't even get a send off!!! Well done bro your family are proud.'

It is not the first time Lingard's brother has hit out at United on social media. In January, with the player hoping to secure a move away United, Scott criticised the club for apparently preventing the midfielder's move to Newcastle with huge loan demands.

Scott also hit back at West Ham fans who believed the Hammers did not need to sign the England international in January.

Lingard has struggled to nail down a first-team place and has made just two starts under Rangnick, who took interim charge of United in December.

He returned to Old Trafford after a successful loan spell with West Ham in the second half of last season and had been promised more game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who vetoed a permanent move.

Solskjaer was then sacked in November and Lingard has made just 11 appearances since Rangnick was appointed.

Lingard sparked controversy last week when he described the dressing room as a 'disaster' in a conversation with Paul Scholes.
