Real Madrid fear CHELSEA have now entered the fight to sign Gabriel Jesus from Man City, with new owner Todd Boehly 'preparing a formal proposal' for the striker also wanted by Arsenal and Tottenham

  • Chelsea have joined Real Madrid in the chase to sign Man City's Gabriel Jesus
  • The striker has a lot of interest in him this summer with Man City prepared to sell
  • Chelsea are 'very interested' with president Todd Boehly eager to snap him up
  • Madrid may have trouble signing Jesus due to their quota of three non-EU stars

Real Madrid are bracing for a transfer scrap with Chelsea over Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, reports claim, with new owner Todd Boehly keen to make the Brazilian one of his first signings.

Jesus has a number of teams from across Europe chasing his signature this summer with City boss Pep Guardiola willing to let him leave after signing Erling Haaland in a £51million deal.

Real Madrid were the latest team to join the hunt after reportedly being offered him but they face plenty of competition.

Chelsea have shown 'strong interest' in Jesus, according to Spanish outlet AS, and are preparing a bid once the legalities of Boehly's deal have officially gone through - in a blow to Madrid who were hoping to bring him to the Bernabeu.

Jesus, who scored eight times in 21 starts for Man City in their title-winning season in the last campaign, has been heavily linked with moves to Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham, but a switch to LaLiga has been mooted this week.

Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are believed to have been offered the player, in a blow to the Gunners - who are desperate for a new forward with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both set to leave on free transfers.

And now they will face even more competition to get their man after Chelsea threw their hat in the ring - with the report from Spain suggesting they are 'very interested' in the player.

The Blues will try to wrap up the deal this summer once their transfer embargo has been formally lifted following sanctions placed on previous owner Roman Abramovich.

However 'time is running against them', it adds, with the club unsure of when they will be able to officially begin transfer operations - handing the advantage to their Premier League rivals Arsenal and Spurs.

Madrid had also been keen on the move but are having 'difficulty' in justifying the transfer, given that they have a strict quota of just three non-EU players at the club - with those spots being filled by Eder Militao, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr.

It came after reports last week that Arsenal were stepping up their interest in Jesus and were willing to double his salary at City to £200,000-per-week.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is believed to have held an excellent working relationship with the 25-year-old during his time as assistant boss at City and both parties are reportedly keen on a deal.

Arsenal have already held initial talks with his agent Marcelo Pettinati but have since enhanced their offer following interest from other European clubs, according to a report from The Sun.

The North London club reportedly stepped up their salary package to £190,000 per week plus bonuses in a bid to coax the striker. The deal would see him earn a significant increase on his £110,00-a-week wage at Manchester City.

And, whilst Arsenal cannot offer Jesus Champions League football, they can all but promise him a regular first-team spot as the central striker at the Emirates - a role he has become accustomed to sharing under Pep Guardiola.

But any club looking to bring in Jesus will have to stump up some serious cash after a report from

reported that the 25-year-old has demanded €5million (£4.3m) after tax per year after being offer to Spanish clubs.
