Chelsea could upset the odds with revenge on their mind in the FA Cup final, but Liverpool are on a roll and have a ruthless edge - Sportsmail's experts predict Saturday's big game

  • Liverpool face Chelsea in a mouthwatering FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday
  • They were well matched in the League Cup final, Reds winning 11-10 on penalties
  • Sportsmail's experts make their predictions ahead of the tournament showpiece

Liverpool face Chelsea in a mouthwatering FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, in a repeat of the League Cup final in February.

The two sides were so evenly matched that day it took Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga missing a spot-kick to split them as Jurgen Klopp's men triumphed 11-10 on penalties to lift their first, and they hope not their last, trophy this season.

So, six of Sportsmail's experts run the rule over the two sides and make their predictions ahead of the tournament showpiece.

IAN LADYMAN - CHELSEA 2 LIVERPOOL 0

Revenge for a highly motivated Chelsea side against a Liverpool team with minds elsewhere. February's Carabao Cup final went Liverpool's way but Chelsea could have won had they taken their chances.

They have the cleverness to find a way through Liverpool's back line and this will be their day. Mason Mount to be prominent and even a goal for Romelu Lukaku.

CHRIS SUTTON - CHELSEA 1 LIVERPOOL 2

Their Carabao Cup final meeting went the distance, ending in that dramatic shootout which saw Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga sky the 22nd penalty (has anyone seen if the ball has landed yet?).

But Jurgen Klopp's men can get the job done in 90 minutes today and avoid that extra 30 — save your legs for that Champions League final!

Six Sportsmail experts have predicted the result, with two backing the Blues to be victorious

MARTIN KEOWN - CHELSEA 0 LIVERPOOL 1

These sides drew 1-1 in August. Then 2-2 in January. Then 0-0 in February, with Liverpool edging the Carabao Cup final on penalties.

I'm expecting another tight contest between two great teams and coaches, and I expect Chelsea to trouble Liverpool on the counter attack, before Jurgen Klopp and his players emerge as winners at Wembley on Saturday evening.

DOMINIC KING - CHELSEA 1 LIVERPOOL 2 (A.E.T.)

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool to lift the FA Cup by edging it in extra time.

But equally, I wouldn't be surprised if the result went the other way, in favour of Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea. It's almost too tight to call between these two fantastic teams.

MATT BARLOW - CHELSEA 2 LIVERPOOL 1

For all their inconsistencies, Chelsea can still summon a big performance on a big stage.

They have plenty of quality, the clarity of focus of the final chance, and the motivation of revenge. Expect it to be tight but Thomas Tuchel can upset the odds.

KIERAN GILL - CHELSEA 0 LIVERPOOL 3

Liverpool to score early, Chelsea to go chasing the game and throw players forward in search of an equaliser, Thomas Tuchel's side to be punished.

A comfortable win for Jurgen Klopp's men, with a couple of late goals to seal victory.
