Despite rumours to the contrary, Paris Saint-Germain will not be rescinding Sergio Ramos' contract for various reasons, not least of all that they do not want to.

The former Real Madrid captain has yet to make his PSG debut due to numerous injury problems and there have been growing concerns about his situation, leading to speculation that the French club may already be seeking to cut their losses.

However, such a unilateral rescission is not only not on the table, but neither is it even possible or in the club's interests.

Reports in La Parisien at the weekend, citing sources at the club, rubbish such rumours and make it clear that it was never under consideration.

In France, as in England, rescission clauses are not allowed, unlike in Spain where they are commonplace. In France, work contracts cannot be unilaterally rescinded by either party, making talk of such release clauses little more than science fiction, whether in the case of Ramos, or Neymar or anyone else.

Therfore, if either PSG or Ramos were to tear up their agreement, they could be subject to punishment from FIFA and the French courts.

After three months, the club doesn't pay wages

MARCA has discovered that in Ligue 1, players stop being paid by their club wages when they have been out injured for over three months. For this reason, all players are encouraged to take out some kind of insurance policy to protect them against this eventuality.

Fortunately for Ramos, and others, the 90 day limit is not cumulative, so it resets any time a player is fit and available again, even if they do not play.

While there may be impatience in some quarters, however, PSG knew what they were getting when they signed Ramos and knew he was in a process of rehab and recovery.

Close to a return

Despite everything, Ramos is close to being able to join in with team training. He remains doing individual work and his approach to that has already impressed his new bosses.

Some sources have told MARCA that the Spaniard could even begin to train with his new teammates as early as this week, while others suggest it will be next week. What's certain is that he won't be rushed, not again.
