Paris Saint-Germain's signing of Lionel Messi over the summer has changed French football's global appeal.

Although the Argentine is yet to have the desired impact on the pitch domestically, having impressed in Europe, his arrival has made a difference off the pitch.

L'Equipe have reported that beIN Sports have already signed 50 international broadcasting contracts for the league, with it now being shown in over 200 countries worldwide.

BeIN pay 75 million euros a season to broadcast Ligue 1 overseas, and a number of new contacts have been signed for the 2021-24 cycle since Messi's move, including in Belgium, India, and Vietnam.

Sweden and Norway have also jumped on the Messi bandwagon, as have Spain and even Twitch.

As far as viewing figures are concerned, an increase of over 76 percent has been seen in North Africa and the Middle East alone for PSG's game against Marseille on October 24.
