Newcastle, who are currently second from bottom in the Premier League after 10 games, are expected to spend heavily in the January transfer window following the Saudi-backed takeover of the club.
Barcelona are reportedly ready to accept an offer from Newcastle for Philippe Coutinho
Coutinho was one the first players to be linked with a move to St James’ Park and cash-strapped Barcelona are keen to sell.
According to SPORT, Barcelona are willing to agree a loan offer than includes a mandatory option to buy.
Barcelona are currently in talks with Al Sadd boss and former midfielder Xavi about being their new manager following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.
The Brazilian midfielder, 29, has been repeatedly linked with a return to the Premier League
Coutinho featured in 11 games for Koeman this season but he was an unused substitute when Sergi Barjuan took charge of the team in Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League.
And Sport claim Coutinho is unlikely to be part of Xavi's plans.
Newcastle meanwhile are continuing their search for a new manager after former Arsenal boss Unai Emery decided to stay at Villarreal.
