'Dana, let's get England back on lad': Paddy Pimblett calls on UFC chief White to give him a homecoming fight after devastating first-round TKO on debut having been knocked down early on

  • Paddy Pimblett weathered an early setback to send a message to Dana White
  • A flurry of combination punches after a huge right hand was enough to win
  • The 26-year-old rubbished suggestions in the build-up that 'he can't punch'
  • Fellow Liverpool fighter Molly McCann embraced 'The Baddy' after their wins

Lightweight Paddy Pimblett sent out a statement on his UFC debut after a relentless flurry of punches saw him secure a first-round TKO win over Luigi Vendramini at Fight Night 191.

Despite being knocked down in the opening stages of the contest, the Liverpool fighter moved in menacingly, catching his Brazilian opponent with a massive right hand with roughly 45 seconds of the round left.

Vendramini moved into the centre of the cage to try and regain some control, but the hits kept coming before Pimblett executed a front kick and then continued striking the 25-year-old repeatedly at bewildering speed, with the referee stepping in to end the fight.

As he strutted around the Octagon after his dazzling debut, Pimblett rubbished the suggestion in the build-up to the fight that 'he can't punch' as Molly McMann joined her fellow Scouser to celebrate victory after she had defeated Ji Yeon Kim in the fight of the night, telling Pimblett: 'My lad. We f****** done it. We took over the world tonight lad.'

Speaking to Michael Bisping after the fight, 'The Baddy' said: 'I'm here to take over lad. I'm the new cash cow.

'I'm the new main man on the UFC roster. I best be in the game next week lad. That simple - I want to be in. I'm the new man, lad. People are going to be calling me out now. You know who the boy is.

'Dana, Shelby, let's get England back on lad. Let's back to the UK. Get your boy in the main event or the co-main and I'll blow the roof off the gaff.'

Reflecting later in his post-fight press conference, Pimblett admitted that he was lucky not to get caught cold early on.

'I can't help myself lad, I like fighting. Some people just hit me sometimes, which is pretty stupid 'cause it can go wrong, but it didn't go wrong there.

'It was never gonna go wrong. This is my destiny. I'm here and I'm the new kid on the block lad. I told you the other day, "I'm gonna get a first-round finish".

'People think I'm a grappler and I've just shut everyone up. I can strike, I can grapple, I can wrestle. I've got the personality, I've got the look. The new king's here lad.'
