Getafe vs Real Madrid - FINAL SCORE: 1-0

This is the start of our Getafe vs Real Madrid live blog, with updates from this LaLiga Santander fixture following on from here. As always, the entries nearest the top are the most recent ones.

FULL TIME: Getafe 1-0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid's 11-game unbeaten run in LaLiga Santander has come to an end, as Enes Unal's ninth-minute goal was enough to separate the two sides. David Soria pulled off some impressive saves when needed, but this is a crucial result for Getafe as they create a three-point gap between themselves and Alaves in 18th.

Minute 90+1: Soria saves again

Modric's free-kick cross from the right was met by the head of Isco, but his header was easily saved by Soria. Getafe have another six minutes to hold on for a famous three points.

Minute 85: Final changes for Real Madrid

Ancelotti is going all-out in search of at least an equaliser, as Isco and Peter Gonzalez have entered the fray in place of Lucas Vazquez and Toni Kroos.

Minute 83: Fresh legs for Getafe

Allan Nyom and Jakub Jankto have replaced Erick Cabaco and Enes Unal ahead of the last period of the match.

Minute 80: Mariano heads wide

Militao's cross into the area was aimed towards Benzema but met by Mariano, who could only guide his header wide of Soria's post.

Minute 76: Great save by Soria

The ball fell to Casemiro on the edge of the box and he got a well-hit shot away, but Soria flew across his goal to keep it out. Great save.

Minute 74: Second Getafe substitution

Carles Alena has been brought off by Quique Sanchez Flores, as he introduces Florentino Luis in an attempt to bring more energy.

Minute 68: Benzema shot headed behind

Karim Benzema got a shot away at goal, but it was headed behind by Jorge Cuenca. As the game is advancing towards its latter stages, Benzema and Hazard seem to be finding each other more and more.

Minute 67: Another substitution for Real Madrid

With Real Madrid still losing, Ancelotti has taken the decision to withdraw Rodrygo and replace him with Mariano Diaz.

Minute 64: Getafe's first change

Sandro Ramirez has come off for Getafe and Jaime Mata has come on in his place.

Minute 58: Frustration for Real Madrid

Rodrygo, who looks okay after his possible shoulder injury, ran back 30 yards to win the ball back for Real Madrid, but Hazard then lost possession in a sloppy manner.

Minute 55: Sandro's shot easily saved

Sandro ran towards Alaba and got a decent shot away, but it went comfortably into Courtois' arms.

Minute 51: Rodrygo down injured

Jorge Cuenca pushed Rodrygo to the ground and he landed awkwardly on his left arm, which has led to Mariano Diaz warming up.

Minute 49: No sign of improvement for Real Madrid

Real Madrid are still not in their groove and are struggling to take control of the match. The introduction of Hazard has not yet had the desired effect.

Minute 46: Getafe kick off the second half

The second half is underway here at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Let's see if there is any reaction from Real Madrid.

Second half: Two changes for Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti has turned to his bench at half time, bringing on Marcelo and Eden Hazard for Ferland Mendy and Marco Asensio. Rodrygo will go from the left wing to the right.

HALF TIME: Getafe 1-0 Real Madrid

Enes Unal's goal in the ninth minute is what separates the two teams at the break. Real Madrid came back into the game and had a series of half-chances, while Ancelotti was becoming visibly frustrated as the half wore on, in part due to the tactics employed by Quique Sanchez Flores' side. It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid respond in the second period.

Minute 45+2: Another chance for Getafe

Getafe took a quick throw-in and the ball ended up at the feet of Damien Suarez, who cut the ball back for Enes Unal to get a shot away, but it was blocked by Eder Militao and went behind for a corner.

Minute 41: Ancelotti loses his cool

Carlo Ancelotti has been complaining about the lack of fouls given against Getafe and has received a yellow card for remonstrating with the fourth official and the referee himself.

Minute 30: Real Madrid pushing but to no avail

Real Madrid are continuing to push forward in numbers, but they have not yet found a way through this resolute Getafe defence. The speed of this game feels like something we'd see in the middle of November or April, rather than the first game back after the Christmas break.

Minute 21: First card of the game

Rodrygo Goes has been shown a yellow card after pulling back Damien Suarez and preventing a Getafe counter-attack.

Minute 20: Kroos misses the target

Real Madrid quickly counter-attacked and that resulted in Lucas Vazquez picking out Toni Kroos on the edge of the box, but his half-volley went a yard or so wide.

Minute 17: Modric hits the crossbar!

A swift Real Madrid attack led to Rodrygo shifting the ball across towards Benzema, who dummied it and allowed Modric to get a shot away, which hit the crossbar.

Minute 15: Modric shoots wide

From a short corner, Modric shifted the ball onto his right foot and attempted a shot from 25 yards out that took a deflection and fizzed just wide of David Soria's far post.

Minute 14: Another couple of chances for Getafe

Enes Unal and then Nemanja Maksimovic had two good chances to score a second goal for Getafe, but Real Madrid got away with it. Courtois and the Real Madrid back four look nervous, with these opening 14 minutes having been very frantic.

Minute 9: GOAL FOR GETAFE!

Real Madrid seemed to win the ball back after Sandro Ramirez lost possession, but Enes Unal put pressure on Eder Militao and emerged with the ball before firing past Thibaut Courtois. Getafe 1-0 Real Madrid.

Minute 2: Getafe being aggressive

Carles Alena and Mathias Olivera have both made fouls that easily could have received a yellow card later in the match. So far, referee Mario Melero Lopez has kept his cards in his pocket.

10:00 GMT: Getafe vs Real Madrid preview

Carlo Ancelotti couldn't have asked for a better first half of the 2021/22 LaLiga Santander season, with his team sitting comfortably at the top of the table, yet he now turns his attention to the new year with Real Madrid facing an away trip to Getafe to kickstart 2022.

Los Blancos will resume their domestic campaign on January 2, with the club a healthy eight points clear of Sevilla at the LaLiga Santander summit, whilst Getafe are involved in a battle to avoid the drop after their years of overachieving.

A COVID-19 outbreak within the Real Madrid camp has put a number of players in doubt for the trip to Getafe, although there is some positive news on this front. Thibaut Courtois, Fede Valverde and Vinicius tested positive for the virus prior to the New Year, but have since returned negative tests and could be involved on Sunday.

However, Eduardo Camavinga is ruled out of the trip, having tested positive for COVID-19 and having picked up a suspension.
