Tottenham and Middlesbrough are reportedly in disagreement about a transfer fee for talented young wing-back Djed Spence.

The Teesside club are thought to want £15m plus add-ons for their 21-year-old star.

However, it is thought Champions League-bound Spurs are hoping to pay considerably less for Spence, who has been capped at England under-21 level.

The Sun report that representatives on the player's side are confident that an agreement will be reached, despite ongoing talks for several weeks without a resolution.

Spurs have kept tabs on Spence for a long time, and want to acquire the man immediately to address Antonio Conte's present shortcomings at wing-back.

The club have already been busy in the transfer market during the summer window, completing the signings of Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic, with more rumoured to come.

If Spurs refuse to match Middlesbrough's financial demands, it is thought a deal could be struck with German side Borussia Dortmund, or another Premier League side, who are also keen on Spence.

Spence spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, helping them to win the Championship play-off final and secure Premier League football for the first time since the 1990s.

A move to Spurs could see Spence line up against his former Forest teammates in the Premier League next season, as well as give him a taste of the Champions League.
