Liverpool finally found some form in a 4-2 Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in Jurgen Klopp's penultimate game at Anfield.

Strikes from Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott pushed Klopp's men within five points of leaders Arsenal in the table with two games remaining, and four points behind holders Manchester City, who have a game in hand over both.

Liverpool talisman Salah headed home his 18th league goal of the season in the 16th minute before Robertson doubled their lead with a tap-in just before halftime. Gakpo headed in Elliott's cross in the 50th, then the midfielder bagged his own with a rocket from 20 yards out that curled into the top corner.

Richarlison and Son Heung-min pulled two back to make for a lively ending, but a comeback was not on the cards for Ange Postecoglou's Spurs who are fifth in the table.

Salah silences the doubters

Fair to say that Mohamed Salah was a man on a mission from the outset here. His name got an extra loud cheer from the Anfield crowd pre-match and he tried to score from an outrageous angle early on and hit the bar.

Salah gave Liverpool the lead before getting an assist for the second goal. The Egyptian now has 25+ goals across all competitions this season and for those doubting him, he’s achieved that feat in six of his seven season at Anfield.

Salah is the first player in Premier League history to score 10+ goals and provide 10+ assists in three consecutive seasons.

Bajcetic makes welcome return

The biggest applause of the afternoon was reserved for 19-year-old Stefan Bajcetic, who made his first Premier League appearance since March 2023.

It was an impressive cameo from the 19-year-old, who came on in the 65th minute, winning six out of eight duels and was calm in possession.

You would expect that he has a big future to play next season but this has been a weird campaign for the Spaniard, who burst onto the scene last season, with both injury and other reasons limiting him to just the one start for Liverpool.

Guardiola and Fergie pay tribute

As part of Jurgen Klopp’s farewell, Liverpool will release a special documentary featuring exclusive interviews with the biggest managerial names in the world.

The likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Carlo Ancelotti, Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino have all been interviewed for the show which will be released in the coming weeks.

Mail Sport understands that the media team at Anfield were keen to explore their own different angle to cover Klopp leaving, with a multi-episodic documentary series already in the works for the German’s final season at the club.

Klopp must tread carefully

Both managers were one yellow card away from a touchline suspension with three bookings in a season leading to a one-match ban for managers.

There was no sign of Jurgen Klopp picking up a tactical booking though, which means that he will have to be extra careful for his penultimate Liverpool game at Aston Villa next Monday.

Whoever is officiating that game, you’d have to be seriously harsh to send Klopp to the stands for his final Liverpool game at Anfield.

Milestone for Spurs star

Son Heung-min made his 300th Premier League appearance, becoming just the third player to reach this milestone for Spurs after Hugo Lloris (361) and Harry Kane (317).

He’s now scored in five consecutive Premier League games against Liverpool, the joint-longest run against them in the competition (also five for Jamie Vardy between 2016 and 2017).

Postecoglou hopes to avoid Santini fate

For all the hype that initially surrounded Ange Postecoglou, it’s worth pointing out that Spurs have now lost four Premier League games in a row for the first time since 2004. That run ended in the sacking of Jacques Santini.

It’s highly unlikely that Spurs will make a managerial change this summer but the last few weeks will certainly have given Postecoglou a better idea of who he wants in his squad next season.

Credit must be due however for all four of his substitutions, who made an impact. Spurs looked a different team with Richarlison as number nine.
