Bruno Guimaraes has dropped a subtle hint that he will stay at Newcastle after purchasing a £4million house.

The Brazilian international has developed into one of the Premier League's best midfielders and, as a result, has attracted attention from a number of English rivals.

Arsenal are one of the teams that have taken an interest in the 26-year-old and it's been suggested they could launch a move for Guimaraes in summer.

However, the Gunners' hopes have been dealt a huge blow after it emerged that Guimaraes has splashed out on a new home in the North East.

According to The Telegraph, the Brazilian has purchased a house in Daras Hall, an exclusive neighbourhood in Northumberland, for himself and his family.

Guimaraes and his wife, Ana Lidia Martins, have two children together and would likely not purchase a house in the area if they were planning on moving again soon.

The outlet also claim that there is 'growing optimism' at the club that Guimaraes will remain at St James' Park for the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

Back in October, Guimaraes signed a new five-year contract with the club - which included a release clause in excess of £100m.

However, just last month, the midfielder admitted that didn't know 'what was going to happen in the future'.

‘I signed for the club and am happy for the club, we never know what is going to happen but for my part I am happy in the club,’ he told a press conference ahead of the Brazil game.

‘We are disappointed about the season but we still have a chance to finish at least seventh and finish in the Europa League or Conference League to put the club in Europe again.

Eddie Howe admitted the Magpies might have to sell one of their best players in summer

‘About the club staff, I cannot speak too much. I don't know what is going to happen in the future but I am so grateful for Newcastle and happy for the club.’

Meanwhile, Magpies boss Eddie Howe also admitted the club may have to sell one of their best players this summer in a bid to satisfy Premier League spending rules and Guinmaraes could be one who makes way.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain also hold interest in Guimaraes and a £100million summer sale would go a long way to keep the books balanced.

The Brazilian has become a vital player for the Magpies since joining from Lyon for £36million in January 2022 and has made 101 appearances in two-and-a-half years.
