Keir Starmer has backed Southgate's squad to come out victorious in their EURO 2024 clash with the Netherlands, joking they haven't missed a penalty during his tenure.
Whilst jetting off to a NATO summit in Washington, the new Prime Minister said he won't be able to watch the all important face-off between the two sides.
However, he is hoping officials will keep him updated on the Three Lions score via diplomatic notes at the meetings.
The Arsenal season ticket holder imparted his wisdom to seasoned manager Gareth Southgate, quipping: 'Win!'
He added: 'I understand our phones are all taken off us, when we go into the Council, so I’ve not doubt we’ll be passed lots of notes with really important information about the summit, and one or two of those notes hopefully will be an update on the score, because I’m not going to be able to get it otherwise.

‘But, look, I’ve sent a message to the team, obviously I wish them well, I want them to win, and let’s hope they can do it.’
Similarly to droves of England supporters online on Saturday, the Labour leader was quick to praise Bukayo Saka for his performance.

Reflecting on the sensational goal, Sir Keir added: ‘That was classic Bukayo… cuts in from the right, and that shot is absolutely classic – inside of the post – I’ve seen it so many times.
‘And I’d remind you, England have not missed a penalty under a Labour government in 2024.’
