Tottenham fans are suddenly queasy at the prospect of signing Dominic Solanke after discovering that he is a childhood Arsenal fan.

Spurs are finalising a deal to sign the Bournemouth striker after he scored 21 goals last season, according to The Athletic.

Solanke is contracted at Vitality Stadium until 2029 and has a £65million release clause.

He has reportedly agreed personal terms after Mail Sport reported that he was in advanced talks a couple of days ago.

However, some Tottenham fans might prefer it if Solanke stays on the south coast after digging up a clip of him admitting his old Arsenal allegiances.

'I went to a few Emirates Cups, back in the day.'

Those words have vexed Spurs fans, who have suddenly turned on the prospect of signing the forward.

'Ah yes it wouldn’t be a Spurs signing without them being an Arsenal fan ffs,' one wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

'Another Gooner signing for Spurs. At the end of the season Solanke, Kulusevski and Darren Bent can celebrate Arsenal's league title,' another said.

'To me signing Solanke is zero ambition. We would laugh if Chelsea/Liverpool/Arsenal signed Solanke, by the way,' one chimed in.

Fans of other clubs were more than happy to pile on.

'I feel so sorry for Tottenham fans. Eze, Neto, Solanke etc. everyone they sign and are linked to loves Arsenal,' one wrote.

'Another secret agent infiltrated the enemy lines,' a Gunners fan wrote.

However, it's not all bad news. Solanke revealed that his affection for Arsenal had waned as he grew more serious about his career.

Asked if he still thinks about his old loyalties when he plays against Mikel Arteta's side, he said: 'Not anymore. Back in the day, when you're young, you love watching football.

'When you actually grow up and you start playing against teams, I think it's a bit hard to support a team.'
