Gabriel Jesus picked up what has been dubbed the strangest booking of the season so far in Arsenal's win over Wolves.

The Gunners got their latest title charge off to a winning start on Saturday afternoon, beating Gary O'Neil's side 2-0 at the Emirates in what was a relatively comfortable victory.

Bukayo Saka was on the score sheet in the second half, with Kai Havertz opening the scoring after starting the game up front having got the nod ahead of Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus was substituted on after 85 minutes in place of Declan Rice, and didn't take long to get into the game, picking up a yellow card moments later following a clash with Yerson Mosquera.

It came after a break in play, with TV footage showing Mosquera seemingly grabbing the buttocks of Jesus, who ended up lashing out in response and picking up a yellow card.

Jesus was left signalling to referee Jarred Gillet what had happened, but his protests were waved away.

The former Manchester City man was shown a yellow card for his action, with Mosquera not receiving any punishment.

Mosquera, who joined Wolves in 2021 but is now set for his first run in the team at the age of 23.

He was public enemy No 1 for much of the game with the home fans, as he also escaped punishment for appearing to pin Havertz to the ground early on in the second half.

Jarred Gillett, however, booked the Arsenal man, who had just been introduced to the game

Mosquera was booed by a number of home fans after an earlier incident with Kai Havertz

Arsenal did however get their season off to the perfect start in terms of the scoreline, and will face Aston Villa next week in their second match.

They are looking to finally de-throne Manchester City, who have won four top flight titles in a row, which is a Premier League record.

Last season, Arteta's side took their challenge to the final day, missing out by two points.
