Barcelona fans might have thought the club had enough to be concerned about already, but Manchester City are now interested in signing Gavi.
The 17-year-old has shone since debuting for the club, becoming a first-team regular at the Camp Nou under Xavi Hernandez and even being named in Luis Enrique's Spain squads.
Now, El Nacional are reporting that the Premier League champions are sniffing around and eager to trigger his release clause of 41.75 million pounds - around 50 million euros.
Barcelona's need to bring in money is well known, and the club need to restructure their salary expenses in order to register new signings. As things stand, they're unable to register Ferran Torres as a first-team player due to having no room to manoeuvre within LaLiga's salary limits.
It is also reported that Pep Guardiola's City will move for the player if the opportunity arises, while Gavi has been linked with a new Barcelona contract. Xavi, speaking at his press conference on Friday, said that the club needed to take a look at the current salary situation before a new offer could be made to Gavi and other youngsters.
Gavi joined Barcelona's academy in 2015 as an 11-year-old, signing his first professional deal in September 2020.
City view the Spaniard as a potential long-term signing, seeing him as a perfect fit alongside Kevin De Bruyne and the rest of their midfield.
Gavi has, however, stated his preference for staying in Barcelona and at the Camp Nou if possible, and is reportedly reluctant to make a move of this size at such an early stage in his career.
