Robert Lewandowski can't have hoped for a better way to celebrate his 34th birthday than by scoring his first goal for Barcelona in the first minute of their match against Real Sociedad.

The Polish striker steered home Alejandro Balde's cross with a first-time left-foot finish to open the scoring in Donostia and his delight was clear to see.

The new signing from Bayern Munich ran over to thank Balde for the assist after the academy graduate had run 40 metres to set him up.

The 18-year-old deserves a lot of credit for the way he pushed up the pitch, carrying the ball at speed, and then looked up to pick out the no.9.

The goal also ended the Blaugrana's run of 312 minutes without a goal in LaLiga Santander. They signed Lewandowski for goals and he is delivering, scoring with his first touch of the game.

Lewandowski and Barcelona's joy didn't last long, however, as things were all square at the Reale Arena just five minutes later thanks to Aleksandr Isak, whose chipped finish over Marc-Andre Ter Stegen ensured the game was 1-1 at half time.
