A possible penalty on Lewandowski was not renewed, while one on Rodrygo was

In the 75th minute of the Clasico, Robert Lewandowski was brought down in the area by Dani Carvajal. The Barcelona striker was fouled but Sanchez Martinez saw nothing and from the first moment refused to point to the spot, so clear in fact that he didn't even review the challenge again.

In the 90th minute of the game, Eric Garcia challenged Rodrygo in the area and the referee once again decided it was not a penalty, until a few seconds later he decided to revise the play on the pitch side monitor.

Garcia's tackle was deemed to be sufficient for a penalty. Something which also would have happened if the referee had been advised to review Carvajal on Lewandowski.

These two circumstances in the Clasico generate concern among Barça fans, who don't understand the differing standards being used by VAR.
