The club hope to get the suspension reduced by the Appeals Committee

FC Barcelona will not give up the battle to reduce Robert Lewandowski's ban after he was handed a three-game suspension.

The Competition Committee punished the striker with a one-game ban for red card and another two for a gesture they deemed was subsequently made toward the match referee, Gil Manzano.

The Catalan club have now presented a second appeal to the Appeals Committee. They filed the necessary paperwork on Tuesday as Wednesday was the deadline after the Competition Committee dismissed their first appeal against the red card.

On this occasion, an appeal has also been filed for the gesture that Lewandowski made just after being sent off.

The Poland international put his finger to his nose and then pointed to the referee. Gil Manzano wrote in his report that it was showing disregard for the decision he had made.

Lewandowski explained the day he picked up the Golden Boot in Barcelona that the gesture was directed at Xavi and not at the referee. "We had talked about if they gave me a yellow card, we would have to be careful with the second one," he said.
