The Barcelona youngster has been in trouble and will be punished

Lamine Yamal's act of indiscipline in the last call-up by the national team has caused concern at Barça. The situation is complex because there are high hopes for his future, but his behaviour in recent times is worrying.

Those responsible for grassroots football have sanctioned the player with four matches in which he will not be able to participate with the Juvenil A, as reported yesterday on the programme 'Què t'hi jugues' on Cadena Ser.

At the club they are aware of the difficulty of managing everything that a boy of only 15 years old is going through. Lamine has gone, in a matter of months, from being almost unknown to constantly appearing in the media and participating in several first team training sessions.

In addition to a complex environment, there is the media exposure, the change of agent, and the situations he is experiencing at the Ciudad Deportiva, where many youngsters approach him to ask for photographs as if he were an established player.

At the club, they are convinced that there is a margin for redirecting some of the player's attitudes and they believe that being in La Masia, where the club can closely supervise the player, works in his favour.

Despite some attitudes that are not to his liking, the forward has maintained the same level on the pitch, where he continues to be one of the most important players in the Juvenil A team.

Until now, the figure of Iván de la Peña, his agent until just a few months ago, was also important. The ex-footballer was very attentive to Lamine, aware that he was a special case, as happens with youth players who, from a very young age, are identified as future stars. 

Lamine turns 16 in July, a key moment in his career because he has to sign his first professional contract. A negotiation that promises to be difficult, because the player has proposals that are much higher than the usual standards for players from La Masia who are 16 years old.

Barça will have to negotiate with Jorge Mendes, who continues to fish for big names from La Masia. To players like Ansu, Balde and Nico, we must now add Lamine Yamal.

The Portuguese has a good relationship with Laporta but it is not expected to be an easy negotiation. On Tuesday Laporta and Mateu Alemany were already in Porto to meet with Mendes, among other things, the future of Lamine. Xavi already announced that Barça had a plan for Lamine and his continuity is a priority for the youth team.
