Specifically about that clip, Messi said he had previously agreed with the club that he would not change his language out of modesty. However, Lionel later revealed that he does not feel comfortable speaking English either:

I feel strange when speaking, I don't like it and I prefer to do everything in Spanish, but as for English, I think I can speak and others understand me.
