The youngster, who will soon turn 19, is joining the B team
Barcelona made the signing of Argentine striker Lucas Roman official on Wednesday night, a player who will play for the B team. SPORT first mentioned the club’s interest in him back on January 11.
Lucas Roman will turn 19 in February, signing on until 2026 at Barca with a 400m euros release clause. Barca paid 1.2 million euros to Ferro Carril Oeste for the forward.
“Pocho” Roman, as he’s known in Argentina, has played for his country up to U20 level, coached by former Barcelona man Javier Mascherano.
Lucas Roman, who signed his deal in the presence of Joan Solar, chief director of youth football, and Jose Ramon Alexanco, the director of youth football, put on the Barca shirt and took photographs at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. He spoke to club media and described himself as a “winger or playmaker, left footed,” who can play “all across the attack”, saying that he liked “playing one on one and for the team”.
He said he was “very happy and had immense joy” at signing.
“I will give my best, it’s a privilege that Rafa Marquez is coaching me, I will learn a lot and hope I can give my best,” he concluded.
