Barcelona sign Hansi Flick as the Blaugrana announce Xavi dismissal

Barcelona have announced the departure of Xavi Hernandez as head coach with Hansi Flick poised to take over.

The president is going to end the contractual relationship with the coach from Terrassa with one game to go and, in addition, he has already signed Hansi Flick.

There was a feeling that a severance agreement with Xavi would be hard to reach but the club has secured it before the match against Sevilla.

Flick is waiting for a call from Barcelona to confirm that he will succeed Xavi. The German coach and the Catalan club have had talks in recent days that have served to verify the good understanding between the two parties, particularly on the terms of the contract.

If the arrival of the former German national team coach is confirmed, Laporta will be fulfilling one of his dreams, as since his return to the presidency he has been committed to the German way in the Barcelona dugout.

Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel, Flick and Jurgen Klopp have all been to his liking and formed part of his manager search. However, mainly for economic reasons, he finally opted for Xavi.

Xavi set to leave Barcelona

Flick is now incredibly close to Barcelona but for his arrival to become a reality, Xavi's departure must first take place.

His dismissal would cost approximately 20 million euros (between his conditions and those of all his staff).

In the meantime, Xavi is leading the training session, aware that he is probably living his last hours as Barcelona coach. On Saturday at 13:00 CEST, he is scheduled to give a press conference, the usual pre-match press conference.
