Bayern Munich is awaiting the fitness of Harry Kane ahead of the crucial match against Real Madrid on Tuesday, April 7 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. The big question for Kompany's side is whether they will be able to count on their best goalscorer, who is suffering from a minor muscle problem.
The England striker returned injured from international duty and missed Bayern's 3-2 win over Freiburg. After the match, German journalists asked if Kane would be fit for the match. Joshua Kimmich was the most outspoken on the subject. "He would play there even in a wheelchair," he joked. "I hope he is fit and on the pitch on Tuesday," he said in the mixed zone.
Vincent Kompany was not as blunt as Kimmich, but was also optimistic about it. "My intuition tells me that he will make it," he explained. Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl also wanted to send a hopeful message to his fans. "The physiotherapists are working on it. He has been constantly on the training ground, receiving treatment. We believe it will work," he said.
