On Tuesday night, Paris Saint-Germain host Manchester City in one of the most eye-catching fixtures of this season's Champions League group stage. It will also be an opportunity for Lionel Messi to once again show his might against the English side.

The Argentine star enjoys playing against the Citizens, with five wins in six games against them, in which he has notched up six goals, two assists and even a hat-trick.

Sky Blues fans will be more than wary when they see PSG's new No.30 take to the field. He might be in different colours, but he's still the same player who caused the so much pain when he was at Barcelona.

They last met in the 2016/17 group stage, with Messi scoring four across the two games, including a hat-trick at the Camp Nou, in a game in which another current PSG player, Neymar, also got on the scoresheet.

Now, however, Messi is still adapting to a new-look PSG side that has undergone various changes in the summer and the team isn't quite clicking as expected just yet. Pep Guardiola's City side, on the other hand, are a well-oiled machine, years in the making.

That's why City are seen as marginal favourites for this one, even as the away side, as the Parisians still have some way to go in their journey to becoming the team they should be with the players they have.

The home side will be hoping to have Marco Verratti available, but it looks unlikely he'll be able to start. When he's fit, he will be a vital part of Mauricio Pochettino's plans.
