The Odyssee is over; Marco van Ginkel is no longer part of Chelsea's loan army. After being loaned three times to PSV, the 28-year-old will join the Eredivisie club permanently. The eight-times Dutch national team player has signed a contract until 2023.

Van Gingek has struggled with a knee injury since May 2018 and celebrated his comeback in January 2021 on matchday 16 against AZ Alkmaar after 983 days. He then managed another 11 appearances and was a regular starter towards the end of the season. Van Ginkel has played 76 games for the club. In 2013 he joined Chelsea from Vitesse Arnhem in a deal worth €9.4 million. There he played just four games and was loaned to Milan and Stoke City before joining PSV.
