Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen wants to stay at the club and is prepared to turn down the chance to join Burnley.

The Blues have accepted a deal that would see the full back join the Clarets on loan with an obligation for them to buy him for £13.5m including add-ons.

The Blues agreed after Marc Cucurella's proposed move to Man United fell through, leaving them with three left-backs.

Maatsen spent last season on loan at Turf Moor and impressed, starting 38 Championship games and helping the team finish top and gain promotion.

He then enjoyed a good pre-season with his parent club and has since made two substitute appearance in the Premier League as well as starting Wednesday's 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup.

Borussia Dortmund and West Ham were also interested in Maatsen and it is understood that Pochettino prefers him to Cucurella at this moment.

Chelsea have had another extremely busy transfer window with many comings and goings.

News broke on Friday that Cole Palmer has completed first part of his Chelsea medical and will sign a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge after a £45m fee was agreed.

They have already completed the big money acquisitions of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson.
