Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark is staying put after the Premier League leaders rejected advances from at least two Football League clubs to sign the teenager on loan.

Clark, son of former Newcastle star Lee, came off the bench in the Reds’ 4-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday and has also featured in a Carabao Cup semi-final and against Arsenal this month.

Jurgen Klopp sees Clark as part of his first-team plans and decided it was best for him to continue his development at Anfield rather than go out on loan to the Championship or League One.

Defender Billy Koumetio, who spent the first half of the season on loan at French second-tier side Dunkerque, is in talks to join Blackburn. Rovers tried to sign fellow Liverpool defender Nat Phillips this week but he went to Cardiff instead.
