Didier Drogba enjoyed his nation's 2-1 victory over Mali in the AFCON quarter-finals, after the former Chelsea star was seen singing the national anthem.

Reacting live on Instagram, Drogba was in high spirits as he sang a joyous rendition of the national anthem while on a plane.

The ex-Chelsea striker made over 60 appearances for Ivory Coast, captaining the national team from 2006 until his retirement.

Having spent eight years at Stamford Bridge from 2004–2012, before returning for a brief second spell, Drogba is one of the Blues' most-decorated players, and is also a national hero in his homeland.

Ivory Coast secured a last-minute win with an incredible late goal to send them through to the semi-finals.

Oumar Diakite scored in added time after the match was sent to extra time, with a 122nd-minute winner for the host nation.

Moments after finding the back of the net from outside the box following a corner, Diakite was sent off for his wild celebrations.

Hamari Traore of Mali followed him seconds later after surrounding the referee before officials were escorted off for their safety.

As the final whistle blew, Ivory Coast continued their wild celebrations after a dramatic night of action.

Ivory Coast lost two of their three group games and sacked their manager Jean-Louis Gasset, but they managed to sneak through to the knockout stages as one of the best third-placed teams.

They have since seen off defending champions Senegal and Mali, and are now just two games away from glory.

They will face DR Congo on Wednesday for a place in next Sunday's final.
