Mauricio Pochettino is now free to take up another job in England after finally agreeing a severance package with Chelsea following his contract termination at the club.

The Blues parted ways with Pochettino in May having spent just one season with the club as the Argentine struggled to get the best out of an unsettled Chelsea squad.

Pochettino navigated his way through a difficult start at Stamford Bridge to guide Chelsea to a strong finish in the Premier League that saw them finish inside the European places.

Chelsea were set to qualify for the Europa League but dropped into the UEFA Conference competition following Man United's FA Cup triumph.

The former Spurs and Chelsea manager has long been admired by England and is now able to discuss new jobs with employers after agreeing compensation with Chelsea, as reported by The Sun

Pochettino mutually agreed to leave Chelsea after less than a year at the helm where he had initially signed a two-year contract with the club.

However, a mixed campaign eventually led to him leaving the London outfit who subsequently appointed ex-Leicester manager Enzo Maresca as his successor.

Talks have since continued with Pochettino to agree a pay-off with Chelsea and has now come to an agreement that will see him receive a £10m pay-off.

The 52-year-old was one of the names in the frame to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United prior to the Dutchman remaining in charge and is also liked by the English FA with Gareth Southgate's future unsure.

Southgate is currently competing at the European Championship with the Three Lions but has been linked with leaving his post following the competition.

Pochettino could be the ready-made replacement and is liked due to his ability to work and get the best out of young English players as he did at both Chelsea, Spurs and Southampton previously.

The displaced manager is open to staying in England but is currently waiting for a position to become available with no spots in the top-flight available at this moment in time.

Pochettino could choose to wait until after England's participation in Euro 2024 to wait and see if a job becomes available for him, but could also choose to look for employment in Europe as well.
