Ian Wright has given a suggestion for how England can get Cole Palmer in their side at Euro 2024.

The Three Lions were poor in attack once again on Tuesday night, managing just four shots on target as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Slovenia in their final group game of Euro 2024 in Germany.

Their best chance of the game fell to Palmer, who was afforded his first minutes of the tournament as a second half substitute for Bukayo Saka on the right of attack.

The Chelsea man's impressive cameo has led to calls for him to be included from the start of games, but a solution for how that could happen remains unclear.

Wright, speaking on ITV Sport as a pundit for the game, gave his view on how it could be done, which involves Saka being moved around the pitch and out of his favoured right wing spot.

'He's looking to get it into you, any time he gets on the ball,' he said of Palmer. 'He's looking to progress it, play it forward, play one twos, he's a progressive player.

'I saw a stat about Kieran Trippier being our second most productive player, touches and passes. I'm thinking, how are we going to get Palmer into the team if that's the case?

'With how naturally left-sided Saka is, could you maybe put Saka at left back, put Palmer on the right? Simply because we need to get some balance and fluidity in the game.' 

Palmer was one of a number of second half changes by Southgate, which also included Kobbie Mainoo, who was introduced at half time, and Anthony Gordon.

Southgate has looked to utilise his attacking options in the games so far in a bid to find a solution to his side's forward struggles, with all attackers but Ivan Toney now getting on the field.

One player stands out, however, according to Roy Keane, who, also speaking on ITV, revealed his admiration for Palmer, who has gone into the tournament on the back of an impressive season with Chelsea.

'Mainoo obvviously looked very comfortable out there, but the one I'm always excited to watch, I think Palmer obviously has that X factor,' he said. 'We were saying why didn't he come on in the first or second game.

'When he came on, every time he gets the ball you think something is going to happen.

'There was certainly more flow to their game in the last 15 or 20 minutes but still no end product, thye didn't really test the goalkeeper, but I do love Palmer, I think he's an amazing player.'
