Footage has emerged showing Bukayo Saka dazzling for Arsenal at left back after Ian Wright suggested he should play there for England at Euro 2024.

Saka started all three of the Three Lions' group games in Germany and registered an assist for Jude Bellingham in the opening 1-0 victory against Serbia.

The winger found the net himself in last night's drab 0-0 draw with Slovenia but the effort was disallowed after Phil Foden had strayed offside in the build-up.

Gareth Southgate's side have underwhelmed despite reaching the last-16 as Group C winners and the clamour for Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer to start reached fever pitch after his impressive cameo during the last 20 minutes in Cologne. 

Wright believes Southgate would ensure balance in the team by playing both Saka, albeit at left back over Kieran Trippier, and Palmer on the right flank.

In light of the Arsenal legend's comments, several clips of Saka impressing at full back as a youngster at club level have resurfaced on social media.

The short video shows Saka bombing down the left-hand side, sporting the No 3 on his back, as well as ghosting beyond opponents in the centre of the pitch.

Using his mesmerising dribbling ability, the teenager chalked up a number of assists and looked an all-round package, all but guaranteeing his spot in the first-team.

Sure enough, Saka caught the eye of then Arsenal boss Unai Emery and was quickly drafted into the senior set-up as a back-up for Sead Kolasinac in 2018.

Eventually, of course, he would become a permanent fixture in the starting XI in a more advanced role but Wright has claimed dropping him back may be beneficial.

'As great as Saka has done for England in terms of what he creates and his goals and assists, he is a natural left-sided player,' Wright said.

'He started playing for England on the left at youth level, he started at Arsenal on the left. If that's going to give you the balance and gets you Cole Palmer in the team, it's something you have to at least look at.

'Yes, Kyle Walker can play there [at left-back], it's the same situation where you have the player coming inside, you have no one going around. He's a natural left-footer Saka, we could activate the whole left side.'

England were jeered off the pitch after the final whistle yesterday and Southgate admitted the reactions are 'creating an unusual environment' for his players. 

'I understand the narrative towards me and that's better for the team than it being towards them,' he said. 'But it is creating an unusual environment to operate in.' 

Southgate, who was also pelted with plastic beer cups, then added: 'I've not seen any other team qualify and receive similar. I understand it, I'm not going to back away from it, but I'm very proud of the players for how they're operating within it.'
