Crystal Palace have bolstered their defence with a pair of deadline day arrivals.

Trevoh Chalobah is reportedly nearing a season-long loan deal, with a medical said to have been completed and confirmation expected imminently.

Chalobah has found himself frozen out at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca, with the academy graduate forced to train away from the club's first-team after being told he was not part of the new manager's plans.

According to a report from The Athletic, the deal does not include any option or obligation to purchase next summer and Palace will pay a loan fee for his services.

Meanwhile Oliver Glasner's side also welcomed French defender Maxence Lacroix to the club after he completed a £21m move from Wolfsburg.

Palace had appeared to be on the brink of a defensive crisis after Joachim Andersen completed a £30m move to Fulham last week.

The Dane had been ever-present for the Eagles in the Premier League last season, and his centre-back partner Marc Guehi also appeared to be nearing an exit amid interest from Newcastle.

However, despite speculation pointing towards a second departure Guehi ultimately remained at Palace, with Glasner later remarking that he did not believe his captain would leave the club.

'I was never in doubt. Congratulations to our owners because they didn't give in,' Glasner said ahead of Sunday's clash with Chelsea.

'Thank you to Marc, he was always open with me. All the rumours didn't influence his performances.

'He always told me that he's not pushing to leave Crystal Palace and that is always the most important thing for me.'
