Bayern Munich mulled a move for struggling Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk at the tail end of the January transfer window.
The Ukrainian forward moved to west London just over a year ago after being the subject of an intense bidding war between the Blues and London rivals Arsenal.
Mudryk ended up signing an eight-and-a-half-year contract in a deal worth £88million but his start to life at Stamford Bridge has been mixed at best.
The 23-year-old has made 18 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals and assisting three more, during the 2023-24 campaign, but performances across all competitions have veered between promising and ineffectual.
But Mudryk was the subject of transfer window interest from abroad - and from a recent former Chelsea head coach.

Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel was keen to provide coverage in Kingsley Coman's position following his injury
As per The Athletic, the Bavarian giants included Mudryk in their thinking as they prepared to recruit a loan signing to provide coverage in the wake of Kingsley Coman suffering a torn medial collateral ligament this weekend.
But Mudryk was later ruled out of the selection process as the perennial Bundesliga champions switched focus to signing Granada's Bryan Zaragoza on a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old forward joined the club as the window began to close on Thursday in a deal worth an estimated £12m.
Bayern confirmed Zaragoza has initially joined on loan until the end of the season, ahead of his permanent transfer.
Chelsea did however lose one first-team player to a loan deal elsewhere, with Armando Broja - who has made 13 league appearances this term - signing late on transfer deadline day with postcode rivals Fulham.
Mudryk will instead stay with the Blues and set about hauling them up the Premier League table after their 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool midweek stunted their progress at Anfield.

The Blues have the opportunity to bounce back quickly in their Sunday fixture against Wolves at Stamford Bridge - where they have gone 10 games unbeaten.
Wolves will be looking for respond on the road having been stunned in stoppage time by Manchester United, who snatched a late 4-3 win on Thursday courtesy of a 97th-minute winner from teenage starlet Kobbie Mainoo.
