  • Multiple Chelsea stars who have condemned or unfollowed him were training

Chelsea have been pictured in training for the first time since Enzo Fernandez shared a 'racist' video to set aflame a dressing room civil war.

Multiple stars who unfollowed Fernandez including Christopher Nkunku, Malo Gusto, Benoit Badiashile, and Armando Broja were snapped at the club's Cobham training centre on Wednesday.

Tensions are high after Fernandez filmed a video of the Argentina squad singing a 'racist' chant about the French football team after their Copa America final win.

Blues stars Wesley Fofana and David Datro Fofana condemned the video, while Nicolas Jackson has showed solidarity for Fernandez by posting a video of him with a black mascot.

It presents a turbulent situation for new boss Enzo Maresca, who only started the job at the start of July.

Chelsea team-mate Wesley Fofana reposted it and wrote: 'Football in 2024: uninhibited racism'

His task is to soothe any hostility ahead of their opening day fixture against Manchester City on August 18, with six friendlies before them.

Chelsea are investigating the controversial footage posted by Fernandez on Argentina's team bus as they celebrated their second successive Copa America title.

Ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup final, Argentine fans incanted the vile song which claims French players 'are all from Angola'.

While Fernandez cut off the video early, it still appeared that they sang up to the Angola-related part of the song.

His Chelsea team-mate Wesley Fofana has accused him of 'uninhibited racism.'

David Datro Fofana wrote: ‘The football that I like is multi-ethnic. Racism in all its forms should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

'These acts have no place in football or even anywhere else. This fight really needs to be taken seriously by everyone involved in this sport.’

Chelsea issued a delayed statement after waiting to verify that the video was real and speaking with Fernandez.

Fernandez took to social media apologise for his actions after Argentina's Copa America win

The club wrote: 'Chelsea Football Club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable. We are proud to be a diverse, inclusive club where people from all cultures, communities and identities feel welcome.

'We acknowledge and appreciate our player’s public apology and will use this as an opportunity to educate. The club has instigated an internal disciplinary procedure.’

Fernandez had taken to social media to apologise for his actions, writing: 'I want to apologise sincerely for a video posted on my Instagram channel during the national team celebrations.'

He went on to add: 'The song includes highly offensive language and there is absolutely no excuse for these words.

'I stand against discrimination in all forms and apologise for getting caught up in the euphoria of our Copa America celebrations.

'That video, that moment, those words, do not reflect my beliefs or my character.

'I am truly sorry.
