Chelsea leave Trevoh Chalobah OUT of their squad for US pre-season tour after 'telling him to stay home' - with defender likely to look for move away from Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have left Trevoh Chalobah out of their squad for the pre-season tour of the United States - with the defender now likely to look for a move away.

Chalobah, despite taking part in Enzo Maresca's training sessions this summer, is said to have been told to stay at home in a shock snub, leaving his future uncertain.

The 25-year-old featured 13 times in the Premier League last season but appears to have become surplus to requirements under the recently installed head coach.

Indeed, according to The Athletic, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi and new signing Tosin Adarabioyo are all preferred options as the right-sided centre back. Youngster Josh Acheampong, meanwhile, will be given a chance to impress at right back.

has claimed that he was instructed not to travel with his team-mates and it is understood that the Blues are willing to sanction his departure.

The likes of Crystal Palace, West Ham and Fulham have recently been linked while Manchester United were also rumoured to be chasing his signature.

Chalobah has turned down multiple opportunities to leave Stamford Bridge over the past 18 months. As reported by Mail Sport, Nottingham Forest saw a £25m bid rejected last summer with Tottenham's last-gasp approach also rebuffed.

He missed much of the previous campaign after suffering a hamstring injury but later fought his way into Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI for the final stretch. 

Notably, Chalobah was widely praised for his role in the stretch of five consecutive Premier League wins that rounded off a rollercoaster season for the club.

Under contract until June 2028, Chalobah would likely command a reasonable fee.

Chalobah progressed through the academy at Cobham between 2007 and 2018 before being handed a spot in the first-team and making his debut in 2021. 

He has been sent out on loan three times, spending spells with Ipswich, Huddersfield and Ligue 1 side Lorient, and could again leave on a temporary basis.

A permanent exit appears the most likely option, however, with Chelsea actively looking to offload unwanted players to raise funds for further spending. 

Chalobah has made 80 appearances for the club to date.

Blues supporters have taken to social media in droves to vent their fury over the decision to freeze him out - with the club's hierarchy in their crosshairs.

'Selling Trevoh Chalobah makes no sense whatsoever,' one X account posted. 'He does his talking on the pitch and somehow it's not enough.'

Another shared footage of Chalobah's memorable goal against Crystal Palace on his Premier League debut and said: 'Just look what it means to score for your boyhood club! Trevoh Chalobah deserves so much more respect.

'Some at the club need reminding of this. No way to treat one of your own.' 

Elsewhere, as reported by Mail Sport, the Blues have enquired over the availability of Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen as they look for competition in the position.

Robert Sanchez is set to stay with Kepa Arrizabalaga expected to make way.
