Chelsea have confirmed Joao Felix will re-join the club on a permanenet basis from Atletico Madrid for a fee of £42.7million.

The Portuguese forward becomes the ninth signing of the Enzo Maresca era and has agreed a six-year contact, with the option of a further 12 months.

Felix arrives in west London for the second time in his career following a six-month loan spell at Stamford bridge during the 2022-23 season.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Barcelona, scoring 10 goals and providing six assist during his time in Catalonia. 

His arrival in Cobham follows the departure of Conor Gallagher, who goes in the opposite direction for £34m.

Speaking to the Chelsea website, Felix said: ‘I’m really happy to be back at Chelsea and I can’t wait to get started.

'I can see some familiar faces from the last time I was here, which is always nice.'

Felixmade it well known that he enjoyed his short spell in London, and he is delighted to have returned.

‘I loved my time here before and I told my friends and family that I’d love to return to the Premier League one day,' Felix added. 'To do that with Chelsea is a great feeling and I’m excited to be back.’

Felix turned out 20 times in blue in all competitions during his last stint at Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals.

The attacker started his footballing journey in his homeland with Benfica, before arriving in the Spanish captial for £114m back in 2019.

A versatile player, Felix netted 31 goals in 131 matches during his five-year spell at the Spanish giants.

Chelsea finalised terms with Felix on Monday, which paved the way for Gallagher's departure, before he was confirmed as a Blue.

The club posted a video of Felix in a Chelsea strip at the training ground, which was captioned 'back home'.

He follows eight others through the door at Stamford Bridge, including stars such as Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Pedro Neto.
