The opening weekend of the Premier League season delivered 21 goals in 10 games spread over four days.

Fans watching the live action via certain broadcasters may have noticed a new-look scoreboard that featured a funky animation after each goal.

That is because Premier League Productions recently developed 20 different scoreboard goal animations - one for each team.

Unfortunately, six of the 20 teams - Everton, Wolves, Ipswich, Chelsea, Southampton and Fulham - failed to score in gameweek one and therefore their animations remained a mystery... until Wednesday that is.

The Premier League shared a video via social media on Wednesday evening. The video featured all 20 club-specific goal animations.

These included Arsenal's cannon firing, Brighton's flying seagull, Leicester's wagging foxtail and West Ham's bubbles blowing.

Some of the animations were more interesting than others.

Ipswich's was arguably the least exciting, as it just featured the letters from the word 'GOAL' switching from one plain font to a slightly more bold one.

However, Chelsea fans were by far the most vocal in expressing their disappointment.

Chelsea's goal animation featured a blue flag being raised while displaying the word: 'GOAL'.

This was seemingly inspired by the famous club song 'Keep The Blue Flag Flying High'.

But many Blues supporters were not impressed and they took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain.

One wrote: 'Petition to get the Premier League to make a new and better goal animation for Chelsea.'

Another moaned: 'Every other club got their emblem involved somehow and they give us a blue flag????'

A third fan added: 'U couldn't have made ours ANY less boring or what'.

A similar message from a different fan read: 'Even the Premier League doesn't put any effort into anything Chelsea. Most basic animation possible.'

A fifth message read: 'Ofc we get the worst one ffs'.

Chelsea fans will be hoping that their goal animation gets used for the first time this season on Sunday when Enzo Maresca's side, looking to bounce back from last weekend's loss to Manchester City, take on Wolves at Molineux.

Joao Felix could feature in that game, after the former loanee rejoined the Blues from Atletico Madrid in a £42.7million move this week.
