Fans couldn't help but laugh at Erling Haaland's post-match interview following Manchester City's 2-0 win over West Ham on Sunday as he accidentally swore live on air.

The 22-year-old starlet scored twice on his Premier League debut to silence his critics after being scrutinised for his performance in the Community Shield last weekend.

However, it was Haaland's post-match interview that left fans in stitches. The £51m summer signing said his failure to score a hat-trick was 'a bit s**t' before cursing again when he realised what he had done.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Haaland said: 'It was a good start and it's nothing much else to say. It was a good start.

'It's good to get minutes in the legs. it's still early in the season. We have to keep going. As expected we saw the potential against Bayern, against Liverpool it was a bit down.'

When asked whether he was disappointed to have walked away with a brace rather than a hat-trick, Haaland said: 'It could have been more today.

'I could have walked away with the hat-trick, it's a bit s*** but that's how it is. It's about the connections we do everyday, we get better at this and this will come.'

The post-match interview asked Halaand to watch his language - to which the Norwegian responded by saying 'Ah s*** sorry, I'm not so good at the language in this country'.

Halaand was responsible for winning Manchester City's penalty in the first half - having been brought down by Alphonse Areola inside the box.

The striker stepped up confidently to take the spot-kick and opened his Premier League account by slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

The 22-year-old was asked about how he felt about his first game, saying: 'It's a big moment for me to debut in this competition. We have to keep going. Now it's almost 30 minutes since I scored the last goal so I have to keep going.'

This is not the first time Halaand has made the headlines following a post-match interview.

Haaland is known for being a man of very few words and demonstrated that following Borussia Dortmund's 4-0 victory over Schalke in May 2020.

The interview lasted a total of 26 seconds - with Halaand saying just 11 words before walking away from the conversation.

The 19-year-old starlet (at the time) made it clear he wasn't in the mood for talking by accompanying his replies with an unimpressed raise of the eyebrow.

The interview began by asking why the Dortmund players decided to clap the 'Yellow Wall' and perform their traditional celebration, despite Signal Iduna Park being empty during the pandemic.

Haaland replied: 'Why not?' before accompanying his blunt reply with a raise of the eyebrow.

Following a moment of awkward silence, the interviewer asked if the starlet was looking to send a message to the Bundesliga fans.

Haaland confirmed he was, before begrudging saying: The message was to my fans, to Dortmund's fans,' as the reporter probed further.

The Norwegian snubbed the final question - 'They are everything for you and for Borussia Dortmund?' He simply replied 'It is' before darting off to avoid another question.

Haaland was caught up in another awkward situation in November 2020 when a reporter asked him whether he would 'sleep lonely' after missing out on a hat-trick.

Haaland had scored twice in Borussia Dortmund's 3-0 win over Club Brugge but fell one goal short of taking home the Champions League match ball.

After the game he was asked: 'Are you going to sleep lonely tonight?'

Halaand - looking rather stunned - replied saying: 'Erm... yeah.'

The interviewer followed that question up with: 'You're not taking a girlfriend home right now, you didn't score a hat-trick.'

The rather bemused striker then responded: 'Didn't score, no.' The reporter then said: 'That was it, thank you.'

Back in the CBS studio Jamie Carragher and his fellow pundits were amused by the interview saying: 'Jesus Christ, I thought we were all getting sacked!'. Micah Richards added: 'I had no idea where that was going!'.

One of Halaand's most iconic interviews came in 2019 when the striker became the youngster player in Champions League history to score a hat-trick in the first half.

The journalist said: 'You became the youngest player in UEFA Champions League history to score a first half hat-trick. How are you feeling right now?'

Haaland replied: 'I feel very good.'

The reporter then followed up by asking: 'Anything else?' To which Haaland responded: 'You asked how I feel, I answered.'

The presenter went on to ask Halaand another question. He said: 'What's the secret – 17 goals now this season in nine games?'. Haaland responded by saying: 'To work hard.'

The interviewer could heard saying 'okay', before asking one final question. He said: 'You've seen the Liverpool result tonight? They lost 2-0 at Anfield. In two weeks, you go to Anfield. Your father scored there in 1997 – are you going to follow suit?'.

Haaland replied by saying: 'I hope so,' before mouthing, 'What are these questions?' and winking at the camera.

It is likely that Haaland will be in front of the camera again soon after his impressive start to the 2022-2023 Premier League campaign.
