Kiernan Hughes-Mason, was found guilty of child cruelty and causing grievous bodily harm to a two-year-old girl.?

The 32-year-old ex-footballer, who played for Arsenal and Tottenham and played professionally for Millwall, caused irreversible brain injuries to his ex-girlfriend's daughter, who has since required 24-hour-a-day medical care.

The girl suffered injuries as extreme as those of a high-speed car accident

On January 31, 2020, the medical staff who came to the girl's aid in Westcliff-on-Sea (Essex) discovered up to 17 different injuries, on her legs, face and chest, and the doctors compared the girl's injuries to those sustained "in a fall from several floors or a high-speed car accident".

?According to the medical report, the girl suffered these wounds and injuries during at least six months of prolonged abuse.

"The girl is getting on my nerves... I'm going to beat her up"

Police found text messages sent by Kiernan Hughes-Mason to a friend in which she wrote that "the girl is really getting on my nerves" and "I'm going to beat her up."

The former English Football League Championship (EFL) player, who played for Grimsby, Welling, Kettering, Maidstone, Leatherhead, Grays and Barking, will hear his sentence on September 10.
