Erling Haaland's goal-scoring rate will scorch EVERY record! He's on course for 66 league goals this season with Mo Salah's tally of 32 gone in 19 games, while Alan Shearer could wave goodbye to his all-time record of 260 in UNDER four seasons

Having played just eight Premier League games, Erling Haaland already has long standing and established domestic goal-scoring records in his sights.

His 14 goals, at a rate of 1.75 a game, make this far and away the quickest start to a league season by any player in the modern era in this country. Let alone by a player new to the league and country.

In addition to that, his three hat-tricks so far - all coming in his last three home games at the Etihad - make him the fastest player ever to the feat in Premier League history. Michael Owen had held the record, taking him 48 games.

Erling Haaland has trounced all before him since arriving in the Premier League this summer

The raw statistics lay bare what a mockery of the Premier League Haaland is making at the moment.

Jamie Carragher on Monday night said the Norwegian was in the 'heads' of defenders, before suggesting that 'anything is possible with Haaland'.

Well, that may be the case. Sportsmail runs you through all of the records, from the reasonable to the outlandish, that Haaland could conceivably topple in the not-too-distant future.

One-time boy wonder Michael Owen held the record for the fewest number of games to score three Premier League hat-tricks

Salah's Premier League season record - 32 goals

Having been cast out by Chelsea, Mohamed Salah returned to the Premier League with a vengeance after rebuilding his career at Roma.

In his first proper season in England, Salah broke through all before him, scoring 32 league goals as Liverpool finally began to look like a force to be reckoned with both domestically and in Europe.

His season was most notable for his performances in Europe, guiding Liverpool to their first Champions League final since 2007, but his league tally ensured he put himself above Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez in enjoying the most prolific 38-game Premier League season ever.

Haaland could trump his record in 20 games.

Mohamed Salah could soon see his 38-game Premier League goal-scoring record beaten

Should the Manchester City forward continue scoring at his current rate of 1.75 goals per game, Salah's record could be gone by the time the champions travel to Manchester United on January 14.

Nobody needs any reminder what Haaland did to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in their most recent fixture.

Even factoring in some sort of second half of the season slow down, Haaland could conceivably have wrapped up the record by the time the Champions League roles around again in February.

His lack of presence at this winter's World Cup, with Norway having failed to qualify, is unlikely to abate his pursuit of Salah.

Last season's golden boot tally - 23 goals

Shared between Tottenham's Son Heung-min and Liverpool's Salah, the two forwards both enjoyed excellent seasons to claim last term's Golden Boot.

Son, speaking after his hat-trick at Norwich on the final day that ensured he would win the prize, said it was one of the proudest moments of his life and something he had dreamed of since he was a child.

It would seem faintly absurd for Haaland to be giving a similar interview after seven more games, but at his current rate that is all the time he will need to surpass last season's golden boot tally.

Needing only nine more goals to equal the record, Haaland could conceivably surpass it prior to the World Cup beginning on November 20.

Son Heung-min was emotional after sharing the golden boot last term - Haaland could soon have surpassed the South Korean's tally

All-time Premier League goal scoring record - 260 goals

There has been much debate over whether or not Alan Shearer's record of 260 goals can ever be broken. The former Newcastle and England striker's final goal in the league came on April 17, 2006, fittingly against Sunderland.

Haaland's arrival, and his start to life in the Premier League, now has supporters questioning whether it is a case of when, not if.

Should he continue hitting the back of the net at his astonishing rate, Shearer's record will be matched within 141 games. A little under four seasons in total.

It took Shearer 441 games over 14 years to reach his final tally, with his goals coming at a rate of 0.59 per game by the time the curtain went down on his career. Harry Kane, the likeliest candidate at present to trouble Shearer's record, has scored his 190 Premier League goals in 290 appearances at a rate of 0.66.

It has been long debated whether or not any player will ever catch Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League goals

Shearer was beset by injuries, particularly during the 1990s and early 2000s that hampered a number of his seasons, something that does not seem inconceivable for Haaland given his troubles at Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.

However, City, as Pep Guardiola said last week, have managed his injury record superbly thus far. To ensure he stayed injury free, the club sent a physio out with him during the most recent international break to monitor his fitness while away with Norway.

They are taking all the steps to ensure their main man has all the opportunities he needs to get as close to as many records as he can.

Manchester City's all-time leading scorer

One of Sergio Aguero's crowning moments in a Manchester City shirt was surpassing Eric Brook's 78-year record as City's leading ever scorer.

Aguero, with a goal against Napoli in the Champions League, edged ahead of Brook's just a week later.

City fans might have some uncertainty about Haaland going past the club's favourite son, but it could soon become reality.

Aguero finished his City career with 260 goals in all competitions, meaning he will surpass it in 142 goals at his current rate.

Messi's record breaking LaLiga season - 50 goals

In 2011/12, Lionel Messi, on a personal level, enjoyed the finest season of his glittering career.

The shame for the Argentine was that it could not secure Barcelona the two biggest prizes as they surrendered the league crown to Jose Mourinho's resurgent Real Madrid team and were spectacularly knocked out of Europe by Roberto Di Matteo's Chelsea rearguard action.

Guardiola is on record as saying Messi is the finest player he has ever coached, an intangible fact Haaland is unlikely to be able to touch. However, he could edge himself further up the Catalan's stellar list of players coached by getting close to Messi's league goalscoring record.

Haaland could surpass the tally with games to spare at his current rate - nine to be exact.

The Argentine scored seven hat-tricks that season, Haaland could match that figure after just 15 games.

English single season goalscoring record - 60 goals

A statistic that has survived pretty much all the major events in modern history. Dixie Dean's 60-goal season for Everton in 1927/28 was concluded only two years after the birth of Queen Elizabeth II, 11 years before the start of the Second World War and 72 years before Haaland was born.

All of the statistics that Haaland has in his line of vision would be an incredible achievement for him to surpass or match, but this one would etch him into the fabric of English football for a millennia.

Haaland may not even know who Dean was, but if he is to be informed of his record then it seems unlikely the ambitious Norwegian will not try to challenge him. He needs 35 games at his rate of 1.75 to match Dean. Only 36 fixtures to surpass the legendary Everton forward.

Many questioned whether or not Haaland would adapt to life quickly in the Premier League after a difficult start to life in the Community Shield against Liverpool at the end of July. How laughable those doubts look now.

Injury free, why can't he challenge one of English football's most esteemed records?

Haaland is looking to break Dixie Dean's record for most goals in a single English season of 60 - a record that has stood since 1928
